From WPIX 5/8/15, PIX11 unveils new studio at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Note the co-sponsorship by Hyundai.
In WPIX's report, below, the reporter says, "We're going to have our talent out here every day, bringing Brooklyn stories to all of you." (OK, how about a story on the Barclays Center's fuzzy finances?)
"We're really excited to have you guys part of the Barclays Center," professional spinner Brett Yormark (Nets/Barclays CEO) tells the camera. "You guys are now the content hub to Brooklyn, whether it's artist content, or the Nets, the Islanders, so the community benefits, we benefit from a building perspective, and we're just so happy to do something that's uniquely different than any other venue in the country." (Well, maybe that's also because retail failed in the spots along Flatbush Avenue.)
Hey, remember that quote: news is what they don't want you to print, the rest is advertising.

Friday morning, PIX11 celebrated the grand opening of our Brooklyn Bureau, the PIX11/Hyundai Studio at Barclays Center. What exactly was the AY CDC doing there?
In 2014, PIX11 and Barclays Center announced a multi-year marketing partnership. As part of the collaboration, PIX11 has built a street-level, in-arena studio at Barclays Center looking onto Flatbush Avenue, which will serve as a Brooklyn-based hub for broadcasts. The studio will be used for daily live shots in PIX11’s signature newscasts, as well as for special presentations around big concerts and shows, civic and political events, discussions, debates and community activities. Broadcasts from the PIX11/Hyundai Studio at Barclays will begin the week of May 11.
PIX11 President and GM Rich Graziano, Brett Yormark, the CEO of the Barclays Center/Brooklyn Nets and Brooklyn Boro President were on hand to cut the ribbon (with big giant scissors!) as we opened the doors to the studio. Also on hand to celebrate with us today were executives from Brooklyn Hospital and the Brooklyn Hospital Foundation, Empire State Development, Atlantic Yards Community Development Corp and the NAACP.
