The Barclays Center on Sept. 2 circulated its September 2021 event calendar, which involves four events: the MTV Video Music Awards (which necessitates street and sidewalk closures on and before Sept. 12), one New York Liberty game, one concert, and one comedy show. Presumably this will be an opportunity to get arena procedures up and running in the COVID era, since October and beyond will be busier. Well, I haven't seen the monthly calendars from the Barclays Center that estimate the expected crowd for ticketed events (and non-ticketed ones) since May 2016. See bottom for the contrast. Maybe it has to do with the departure of Community Affairs rep Terence Kelly. If they're not continuing that, it disserves neighbors who should know what's coming. I went back into the Barclays Center web site to take screenshots of the monthly ticketed events, and it's clear that the schedule picks up in the fall. The November and October calendars look quite full, with two professional sports teams, some basketball tournaments, Disney on Ice, and a few concerts. The few months before then, however, were pretty slow, at least for publicly ticketed events. These schedules do not count graduations and other private events. After failing to prepare / release an event calendar for May, the Barclays Center has released its June 2014 public event calendar, with more than two weeks' lead time. The roster includes seven events: five concerts, plus a boxing event and the 2014 NBA draft. (As noted by @NetsDaily's Bob Windrem, the 10,000 expected for the 2014 draft is twice that last year, though neither New York team has a pick. This year tickets are $15/$20/$35, while last year they were $20/$35. I'm not sure that pricing will get them to 10,000 people. There might have to be some giveaways.) So, what's going on at the arena this month? The Barclays Center yesterday belatedly released the July event calendar (it's supposed to come out in the weeks beforehand), which includes one concert (Further), a wrestling event, and five days of family shows, encompassing seven Cirque du Soleil performances. No full houses None of the events are expected to come close to selling out the arena, with only 4000 people estimated for each family show.
