Updated July 2. There was something a bit cryptic in the July 2025 event calendar circulated yesterday, June 30, to neighbors. (My coverage .) The notice also alerted readers to "an art installation on the Plaza"--which for these purposes they choose not to describe as Ticketmaster Plaza--starting Sunday June 29 at 5 am through Thursday July 3 at 12 noon.  That suggests they were ready to send out the notice before June 29, but chose not to do so, perhaps because it was delayed. Indeed, as of the evening of July 1, it still wasn't finished, but it was clearly an homage of some sort to the New York Liberty roster: at the center-right is forward Leonie Fiebich. As indicated by the September 2024 event calendar ( link ) and the post on Twitter/X at right, this week the Barclays Center practiced a bit of synergy, installing a Brooklyn Nets/New York Liberty monster truck on Ticketmaster Plaza to promote two monster truck arena events on Sept. 28. So there you have it, a monster truck painted Nets black on one side and Liberty green on the other. Plus various logos, images, and slogans. Both sides got "light it up" and "strong," but I think only the Nets side got "wow." Plus the all-important signifiers "Dean Street" and "Atlantic Avenue," where, presumably, such monster trucks would provoke consternation. All told, a bit more sophisticated, I suspect, than the "Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party" that is aimed at kids. Check out this video for an example. OK, it wasn't on the Barclays Center's July community calendar circulated to residents ( link ), or otherwise publicly announced with any clarity. But on Friday July 26, part of Ticketmaster Plaza, as shown in the photos and video below, was truncated to accommodate a New York Liberty Summer Camp event, "presented by Ticketmaster," as part of the WNBA team's Summerpalooza . No, it didn't restrict people walking to the subway entrance on the plaza, but it did favor private use of quasi-public space. The Barclays Center yesterday released an updated September 2023 community notice, disclosing two events on Ticketmaster Plaza Monday, Sept. 18: the Just Brooklyn Prize Awards, the first of an annual series, followed by a free concert with works by modern classical composer Steve Reich , the pilot performance of an outdoor arts series at the plaza. Both are sponsored by the Social Justice Fund of the Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation, the philanthropic venture of the couple who own the Brooklyn Nets, New York Liberty and the arena operating company.  The $50 million commitment over ten years, announced in the wake of the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, is for "social justice initiatives and community investments that will benefit the BIPOC (especially Black) community, with a priority on Brooklyn." OK, add another event--a plaza event--to the August 2023 Barclays Center calendar : a party for Nets fans this Sunday, Aug. 20, from 11 am to 4 pm. From a Brooklyn Nets email:  In anticipation of the upcoming season, on August 20th, Ticketmaster and the Nets are hosting a party on Ticketmaster Plaza outside Barclays Center! The day will be filled with appearances by the Nets Rookie Class, free live performances by talent such as Lola Brooke and DJ Funk Flex, giveaways, and food that celebrates Brooklyn. Note that, as I've written, its "our plaza" when the arena doesn't want to highlight the sponsor; otherwise, since the arena opening in September 2012, it's been New York Daily News Plaza , Resorts World Casino NYC Plaza , SeatGeek Plaza , and now Ticketmaster Plaza.

New photos July 6 by Norman Oder When in January news emerged that the Barclays Center was dropping ticketing company SeatGeek for industry heavyweight Ticketmaster, that meant that, eventually, the signage designating SeatGeek Plaza would have to change. And it has. As shown in the image at right, the plaza is now branded Ticketmaster Plaza or, using the typeface preferred, ticketmaster PLAZA. (I'm not sure when the name appeared; I took the photos July 6.) Previous sponsor.
