From the latest Construction Update: utility work at southeast block should affect parking on Dean Street

The latest Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Construction Update (bottom), covering the two weeks beginning yesterday, Monday, Dec. 27, was circulated yesterday at 12:29 pm (late) by Empire State Development (ESD) after preparation by Greenland Forest City Partners.

There are some changes from the previous update, notably at the B12/B13 site, aka 615 Dean and 595 Dean, where concrete superstructure operations are nearing completion--the building structure has “topped” out but interior concrete superstructure work continues, with major work completed in early January.

As previously stated, the crane dismantling for the East Tower is scheduled for this week, with staging of trucks and equipment on Pacific St. with no impact to traffic on Dean St. This could occur from 6 pm to midnight. If on the weekend, it would be 7 am to 3 pm.

Con Ed, as previously predicted, may be on site to install interconnection feeder cables between vaults. New is that National Grid is expected to install new high pressure gas main on Dean St. in January, with no date/duration stated, Also, Altice is expected to install new telecom conduits on Dean St. in January, again with no date/duration confirmed.

All this work should reduce parking on Dean Street--details will be shared at a later date.

At the arena block

At B15 (662 Pacific St., aka Plank Road), permanent sidewalk work continues along Pacific, Sixth & Dean street, but no longer is completion anticipated by the end of 2021

At B4 (18 Sixth Ave., aka Brooklyn Crossing), the first Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO)--an upgrade from a Temporary Use Permit--has been issued for the building and leasing activities will begin in early January.

After-hours work continues

Regarding after-hours work at B4 (18 Sixth Ave.), the Construction Update accurately lists weekday work 5 am to 10 pm. Saturday and Sunday work can be 9 am to 5 pm, but there are no after-hours variances yet.

Regarding after-hours work at B15 (662 Pacific St.), the document cites potential weekday work 6 am to 10 pm, Saturday work 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday work 9 am to 5 pm--but no after-hours variances are posted yet.

Regarding after-hours work at B12 & B13, the document accurately states weekday work hours are 6 am to 6 pm. It also says "Saturday work from 9 AM – 5 PM will continue."

No variances are posted at the moment, but keep watch: as I wrote, previous variances were actually through 5:30 pm, a small but not unimportant advantage, and nondisclosure.  3
