From the latest Construction Update: temporary heaters, type unspecified, at B12/B13 site as temperature drops. Dismantling of cranes coming.
The latest Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Construction Update (bottom), covering the two weeks beginning Monday, Dec. 13, was circulated 12/10/21 at 12:57 pm (lead time) by Empire State Development (ESD) after preparation by Greenland Forest City Partners.
There are only a few changes from the previous update, notably at the B12/B13 site, aka 615 Dean and 595 Dean, where cranes will be dismantled in the coming weeks, indicating the towers have topped out. The document notes that temporary heaters may be used as temperatures drop below freezing, and fire-watch personnel will be in place.
Unspecified is the source of the heat (gas?), and whether this has been used before. From the document:
- Concrete Superstructure work continues for the bulkhead levels / EMR machine rooms above main roof levels for East and West Towers including delivery of materials (formwork, rebar, concrete, etc.). Major concrete superstructure operations to be completed end of December / beginning of January 2022. Please note that winter heating may be in place as temperatures drop below freezing. Temporary heaters may be used during this time and fire-watch personnel will be in place as required.
- • Installation of East Tower and West Tower Hoist complex continues for the main roof levels and is expected to be completed by end of December / beginning of January 2022.
- • Crane dismantling for the West Tower scheduled for the week of December 20, 2021 and crane dismantling for the East Tower scheduled for the week of December 27, 2021. Staging of trucks and equipment will occur on Pacific St. with no impact to traffic on Dean St. In the event of inclement weather, the dismantling of the Crane may be performed during the following day or weekend. Working hours would be from 6:01 PM to 11:59 PM during the week and 7 AM to 3 PM during the weekend.
- • Interior concrete masonry unit and exterior back-up concrete masonry unit work / face-brick installation on-going throughout the project. Please note that winter heating maybe in place as temperatures drop below freezing. Temporary heaters may be used during this time and fire-watch personnel will be in place as required.
After-hours work continues
Regarding after-hours work at B4 (18 Sixth Ave.), the Construction Update accurately lists weekday work 5 am to 10 pm. Saturday and Sunday work can be 9 am to 5 pm, but there are no after-hours variances yet
Regarding after-hours work at B4 (18 Sixth Ave.), the Construction Update accurately lists weekday work 5 am to 10 pm. Saturday and Sunday work can be 9 am to 5 pm, but there are no after-hours variances yet
Regarding after-hours work at B15 (662 Pacific St.), the document accurately cites weekday work 6 am to 10 pm, Saturday work 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday work 9 am to 5 pm.
Regarding after-hours work at B12 & B13, the document accurately states weekday work hours are 6 am to 6 pm. It also says "Saturday work from 9 AM – 5 PM will continue," but that's not accurate.
Today's permit is from 9 am to 5:30 pm, as is the one next Saturday. That continues a pattern over numerous weeks, as noted two weeks ago. A small difference, but not unimportant. And they know better, because I've pointed it out.
Remember, such after-hours work allows the developers to meet their schedule. That takes priority over neighborhood impacts.
