Checking in on 461 Dean Street, where exterior panels still need work

Photo from AYR reader
What's the difference between these two photos of the B2 modular tower, aka 461 Dean Street?

The one at right was sent yesterday by a reader, the second appeared a day earlier in a cheery update from Curbed, Checking In on the Progress at Pacific Park, Soon to Welcome Residents.

Notably, the facade in the photo at right shows far more of the modules needing external facade repairs, a persistent problem with this building.

It's no surprise that the more flattering photo in Curbed was supplied by SHoP Architects.

And that might be one reason why the affordable housing lottery, though "set to launch any day now, " according to Curbed, is actually is well behind the promised March (and, previously, February) announcement.

The Curbed piece also had a photo of the full-height 550 Vanderbilt tower, which is starting to get its facade and, yes, is way bigger than its neighbors.
