In an effort that has been rescheduled twice, to accommodate assembly and installation of a construction crane for the 38 Sixth Avenue (B3), site at the southeast corner of the arena block, Sixth Avenue between Pacific and Dean Streets will be closed tomorrow to through traffic for 15 hours, from 6 am to 9 pm, and for 6 hours on Sunday, from 6 am to noon. That's 21 hours.
(Note that, according to the original notice in the Construction Alert, the street was supposed to be closed 18 hours, but that was increased to 30 hours.)
Local traffic, bicycles and emergency vehicles only will be permitted access to Sixth Avenue, but through traffic will be detoured to Carlton and Vanderbilt Avenues. The east sidewalk of Sixth Avenue will remain open to pedestrians through crane assembly and installation. Traffic Enforcement Agents and flaggers are supposed to be on site to assist with vehicular and pedestrian movements.
