On Thursday, Forest City Ratner spokesman Joe DePlasco attempted to explain why work had halted at the Vanderbilt Yard, telling the Daily News:
"Over the last two years, we've prepared the site for the next steps. We've gone about as far as we can go at this point with preliminary work, including sewer, track, infrastructure and utility work, along with demolition,"
Does this photo, taken yesterday morning, depict a site prepared "for the next steps"? What about the half-demolished Carlton Avenue Bridge?
What about the material lying around on the ground? Are they just going to leave the footbridges there for the winter, as the pool of water accumulates?
Note that a similar footbridge for workers has already been installed just parallel to the Sixth Avenue Bridge, below.
(Update Sunday: As Steve Soblick's picture at bottom shows, it doesn't go all the way. And a correction: I'd previously commented that it's not quite finished, but, given that it's been installed for a while, that may be all they need.)
