More pending questions from Quality of Life meeting: DOE; rat abatement; AY CDC

This is the fourth of four posts about the July 13, 2021 Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Quality of Life meeting. The first noted no updates on big questions regarding the project and episodes of obfuscation and non-transparency. The second addressed some mysterious, unauthorized "No Parking" signs. The third concerned some Barclays Center issues. The fourth cited pending questions.

What is status regarding a requested invite to a Department of Education representatives to discuss the in-progress middle-school at the 662 Pacific St. tower? (It's due in 2024, with an address of 491 Dean St.)

"We have committed to reach out to the DOE," said Tobi Jaiyesimi of meeting host Empire State Development, which oversees/shepherds the project.

DOE is not currently on the agenda for the September meeting, but she will follow up with the School Construction Authority, an arm of the DOE, which has participated in past meetings.

What's the status of the rate abatement plan at the B12/B13 site, given a complaint from across the block.

We’ll look into that, Jaiyesimi said.

When's the next meeting of the Atlantic Yards Community Development Corporation (AY CDC), which is supposed to meet quarterly (but has not done so)?

It hasn't been scheduled yet, she said.

Are any AY CDC participants in the online Quality of Life meeting?

"I do see one," Jaiyesimi said, "but they are joining as community members," so she thus did not identify the person.

That's a flaw--or simply just a feature--in a somewhat opaque virtual meeting procedure that does not show the participants to each other, just to the hosts, and allows only a one-way chat, from participant to host, rather than mirrors the experience of an in-person meeting.

The meeting notes, with some updated answers, should be posted here.
