This was a clickbait headline from Curbed yesterday, Adams Chooses McDonald’s Over Housing Density in Prospect Heights.
That's not remotely true, because the upzoning Adams supports, consistent with Community Board 8's M-CROWN plan, would allow a 14-story building, as the text indicates, and as I wrote.
Note that it's not simply the "McDonald's site," though that's a convenient shorthand.
That's relevant because the parcels along Pacific Street were never destined for the zoning upgrade planned for broader Atlantic Avenue.
There's a debate to be had over whether the corner of Atlantic and Vanderbilt avenues deserves more density, just as there's one to be had over whether the Community Board's considered plans deserve deference--and whether the murky Vanderbilt Atlantic Holdings LLC deserves more scrutiny than as it's gotten.
But it should start first with more accuracy.
