As de Blasio touts Brooklyn Nets, he becomes a meme; team partners on vaccination, with drawings for playoff tickets

Get vaccine, win Brooklyn Nets tix, says ridiculously dressed De Blasio, summarized the New York Post, covering a meme-creating press conference in which the mayor donned a James Harden jersey and Nets hat to announce a new a new pop-up vaccination site near Barclays Center--actually, across Flatbush Avenie at the Modell's site--starting Saturday, plus a drawing for 100 free tickets.

The partnership is with DocGo, which already offers testing for game attendees. Press release at bottom. This could last a while, assuming the Nets go deep in the playoffs.

Arena/Nets CEO John Abbamondi also said the arena would aim for “as close to full capacity” as possible, with most seats sold to vaccinated people, plus a “handful” of sections offering social distancing for unvaccinated attendees.

The new vaccine site will be aimed at residents from neighborhoods hardest-hit by the coronavirus pandemic in the city's latest effort to boost a lagging vaccine distribution in 33 areas it identified as the most impacted by the pandemic.

...The vaccine site will be open to those who have not yet been vaccinated in the 33 neighborhoods. In Brooklyn, that includes Bed-Stuy, Bushwick, East New York, Sunset Park, Coney Island, Flatbush, Midwood, Brownsville, East Flatbush, the Flatlands and Canarsie.

BROOKLYN NETS LAUNCH VACCINATION SITE, OPEN FOR NETS HOME GAMES DURING 2021 NBA PLAYOFFS

BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets are partnering with the New York City Mayor’s Office and DocGo to open a COVID-19 vaccination site for qualified individuals ages 12 years and older. Beginning with the Nets’ first home game of the 2021 NBA Playoffs [Saturday], vaccines will be available to eligible New Yorkers and ticketed fans.

The vaccination site will be located at 140 Flatbush Avenue, across the street from Barclays Center, with appointments available the day before and the day of every Nets home game throughout the NBA Playoffs. Once game times are set, appointments can be booked in advance by going through NYC COVID-19 Vaccine Finder and choosing “Barclays Center: Modell’s” as the vaccination site. Walk-in appointments will also be available on a first come, first served basis. Everyone will be closely monitored for 15 minutes after the shot is administered. All individuals who get vaccinated will also receive a complimentary Nets t-shirt and can enter to win Nets playoff tickets.

The Nets will also work with the Mayor’s Office to provide complimentary Playoff home game tickets to 100 fully vaccinated Nets fans who reside in the 33 neighborhoods that have been identified by the Task Force on Racial Inclusion and Equity. Additional details to be provided in the coming days.
