From the Sun-Sentinel, Denis Potvin says Barclays Center isn't my home
Thanks for the reminder, Denis. Same goes for the arena name, of course.
Hall of Fame defenseman Denis Potvin, who’s the Panthers color analyst on Fox-Sports-Florida, said it was strange to see his retired No. 5 jersey hanging in the rafters of Barclays Center, the Islanders new home, in Brooklyn instead of Nassau War Veterans Coliseum in Uniondale, L.I.(Emphasis added)
...Potvin was on the dynastic Islanders team that won four consecutive Stanley Cupchampionship titles from 1979-83. The banners were also moved from the Coliseum to he rafters atop the black seats in the Barclays Center.
Potvin said the building was beautiful and has always been a fan of Brooklyn, but he'll never call it home.
“The Islanders logo on the ice looked very strange being it’s not in the old Coliseum,’’ Potvin said. “How do I feel about it? It’s business, that’s what I feel about it. You’re not going to ask me to say, ‘Do you feel like your home?’
Thanks for the reminder, Denis. Same goes for the arena name, of course.
