From the latest Construction Update: hoist removal outside B4, sidewalk to reopen outside B15; utility work still pending for Dean Street

The latest Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Construction Update (bottom), covering the two weeks beginning Monday, Jan. 24, was circulated yesterday at 4:37 pm (lead time) by Empire State Development (ESD) after preparation by Greenland Forest City Partners.

There are some changes from the previous update. Notably, after substantial completion of the exterior façade of B4 (18 Sixth Ave., aka Brooklyn Crossing), the hoist removal along Atlantic Ave. has begun and will take about six weeks to complete.

At B15 (662 Pacific St., aka Plank Road), the sidewalk replacement is substantially complete, and the sidewalk should be fully reopened to pedestrian traffic during these two weeks. The update promises "improvements to the street in early spring when weather conditions permit."

Utility work on Dean Street

At the B12/B13 site, aka 615 Dean and 595 Dean, where concrete superstructure operations are nearing completion, interior concrete superstructure work continues.

As previously predicted, Con Ed may be on site to install interconnection feeder cables between vaults; National Grid is expected to install a new high pressure gas main; Altice is expected to install new telecom conduits; and Version may install/pull new fiber optic cables on Dean St. These have been forecast several times, but apparently didn't happen.

After-hours work continues

Regarding after-hours work at B4 (18 Sixth Ave.), the Construction Update accurately lists weekday work 5 am to 10 pm. Saturday work is listed accurately as 9 am to 5 pm. Sunday work can be the same hours, but there are no after-hours variances yet.

Regarding after-hours work at B15 (662 Pacific St.), the document cites potential weekday work 6 am to 10 pm, Saturday work 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday work 9 am to 5 pm, though no after-hours variances have been posted yet.

Regarding after-hours work at B12 & B13, the document accurately states weekday work hours are 6 am to 6 pm.

It also says "Saturday work from 9 AM – 5 PM will continue." Rather, today's variance is until 5:30 pm, continuing a pattern, representing a small but not unimportant advantage, and nondisclosure.
