Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park infographics: what's built/what's coming/what's missing, who's responsible, + project FAQ/timeline (pinned post)

With little lead time, webcast meeting of advisory Atlantic Yards CDC set for next Tuesday. Comments welcome on Agenda, which is not yet public.

With only five calendar days (and only two full business days) of notice, Empire State Development yesterday announced a belated meeting of the advisory Atlantic Yards Community Development Corporation (AY CDC) next Tuesday, March 22, at 3 pm.

The meeting will be conducted via video conference and teleconference, available at this link.

Members of the public may submit comments on the Agenda items in writing to AYCDCBdMtg@esd.ny.gov by 4:30 pm on Monday, March 21. The catch, however, is that no agenda has been posted yet, which shows how seriously the parent ESD takes the advisory body, which is mostly toothless.

It's supposed to meet quarterly but has long gaps between meetings, though that's hardly the main issue. The last meeting was 12/13/21, which means that quarterly schedule could get back on track.

Agenda mysteries

Could this meeting be a routine update on the status of the project? Possibly.

Could this meeting be coordinated with an announcement that construction of the first phase of the platform, and/or the B5 tower, is upcoming? Possibly.

Could this meeting be coordinated with an announcement of a plan to move the bulk of the unbuilt B1 tower (aka "Miss Brooklyn") once slated to loom over the arena, across Flatbush Avenue to Site 5, creating a giant, two-tower project? Possibly.

Could this meeting feature discussion of the May 2025 deadline for 877 more units of affordable housing, the $2,000/month fines for each unbuilt unit, and a proposal to extend or revise the deadline? You can't rule it out.
