Well, you're just rooting for the clothes. The New York Knicks have acquired not only former star point guard Derrick Rose and former star center Joakim Noah, both with serious injury histories, plus shooting guard Courtney Lee, to play alongside Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony.
If they stay healthy, the Knicks should be the stronger, more interesting New York team. But the Nets got higher grades (see Tim Bontemps column) for signing one-time Knicks supernova point guard Jeremy Lin, which is also a great p.r. move. (Surely some Chinese-Americans in Sunset Park will be visiting the Nets' training center there.)
That doesn't upgrade the Nets enough--they signed a backup forward, Trevor Booker, and some intriguing rookies--but the season of free agency is not over. And it sure gave Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams something to crow about.
And don't forget:

Signing of Jeremy Lin big deal for @BrooklynNets. Expect much p.r. (including Sunset Park) A *start* on roster fix. https://t.co/V9VjTYwXIX— Norman Oder (@AYReport) July 1, 2016
