Daily News hyperventilates about royal couple's visit to Barclays Center (to see LeBron)

Three--count 'em, three--New York Daily News reporters were required for yesterday's breathless report, Prince William and pregnant Kate Middleton set to see Brooklyn Nets take on LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers: The royal couple will head for the Barclays Center to see the game when they are in New York for three days next month.

A selection of the perfectly chosen/delivered quotes:
  • ā€œHow befitting for the future King of England to travel to Kings County!ā€ said Borough President Eric Adams, thrilled by the impending arrival of both Cambridge and Cleveland royalty.
  • ā€œSo itā€™s nice that heā€™s coming to Brooklyn,ā€ said Debra Bock-Woo, 62, who lives near Barclays Center. ā€œI hope they enjoy themselves. It might be their first basketball game.ā€
  • ā€œThatā€™s so cool,ā€ [Barclays worker Collis Matthews] said Friday. ā€œThatā€™s going to bring a lot of attention here. Itā€™s good for them to come have a little fun. A lot of people are going to want to see ā€™em.
  • ā€œItā€™s a good thing,ā€ said Brooklyn native Sonya Mighty. ā€œBrooklyn is a great place to visit. Thereā€™s plenty to see here ā€” the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Grand Army Plaza. Itā€™s an amazing place.ā€
  • ā€œOh wow!ā€ the Brooklynite [Nurys Garcia] said. ā€œItā€™s really exciting and nice that theyā€™re coming, especially here in Brooklyn. Iā€™m sure security will be really tight and traffic is going to be crazy.ā€
  • ā€œItā€™ll be really nice,ā€ she said. ā€œThe Barclays Center is great. It brings so many here to Brooklyn. And now to have the royals come here? I might show up.ā€
Might we remember that the Daily News sponsors the arena plaza and is thus the Barclays Center's business partner?
