Please note that due to changes in construction logistics, we will only be installing one crane over Columbus Day Weekend. The crane that will be installed over the weekend is a large crane and will be positioned at the corner of Dean Street and 6th Avenue and will require the same temporary detours of vehicles, pedestrian and bicycle traffic as previously stated in the Community Notice (attached.)
A second and smaller crane will be installed on Atlantic Ave near 6th Ave at a later date and will have minimal impacts. We will notify the community in advance of the Atlantic Avenue crane installation date.
This watchdog blog, by journalist Norman Oder, offers analysis, commentary, and reportage about the $4.9B project to build the Barclays Center arena and 15-16 towers at a crucial site in Brooklyn. Dubbed Atlantic Yards by developer Forest City Ratner in 2003, it was rebranded Pacific Park Brooklyn in 2014 after the Chinese government-owned Greenland Group bought a 70% stake going forward. As of 2018, after the arena and four towers were built, Greenland will own 95% of future construction.
