From the latest Atlantic Yards Construction Alert: dump trucks at B2 site, drill rig at railyard

According to the latest two-week Atlantic Yards Construction Update, dated March 4 and issued by Empire State Development after preparation by Forest City Ratner, work continues on the B-2 modular tower and the LIRR railyard.

For the tower, some of the most notable work includes:
  • Installation of Support of Excavation (SOE) piles was completed during the last reporting period; Production pile installation will continue during this reporting period. This work will also include filling piles with grout and reinforcing steel bars.
  • Work has started in the Northeast quadrant of the site and continues towards the Southeast quadrant.
  • Site excavation will continue in coordination with approved SOE down to -12’ to 16’. Work will result in the use of 2-3 dump trucks (3 round trips each), 9 loads of material off site.
For the railyard, some of the most notable work includes:
  • Drill rig that will be located within the MPT [Maintenance and Protection of Traffic] work area is expected to be arrive onsite the week of 3/4/13 but will not be active until DOB inspection of the rig is completed the week of 3/11/13.
