Brooklyn Nets announce new jersey patch partner, travel platform GetYourGuide. (No $ stated.) New local tourism synergy and even ticket sales.

Goodbye WeBull, hello GetYourGuide--and maybe also some Brooklyn travel synergy.

Just five minutes after Sportico yesterday posted an exclusive based on the press release, the Brooklyn Nets announced that the "Global online travel experience platform" GetYourGuide, based in Berlin, would become the team's Official Jersey Patch Partner.

Unmentioned: GetYourGuide also has become a platform to sell Nets tickets, as shown in the image below.

Not a record

No deal price was announced, but it's surely less than the reported record $30 million a year paid by the trading platform WeBull in 2021, when the Nets had a superstar trio and were slated to be on national television a lot.

After all, the Nets are in a tank year, and rebuilding, hoping for a top draft pick.

“The most important element in our search for a new jersey patch partner was a brand with shared values, and we have found that in GetYourGuide,” said Catherine Carlson, Executive Vice President of Global Partnerships at BSE Global, parent company of the Nets, in the press release.

Yeah, the shared values of paying more than the other guys.

New travel + Brooklyn

According to the press release, "the Nets will provide access to team-inspired experiences that will be available on the GetYourGuide platform, and GetYourGuide will also receive international marketing rights to promote its alliance."

GetYourGuide also will sponsor a new “Best of Brooklyn” series, highlighting favorite Brooklyn spots of Nets and New York Liberty players and coaching staff. “Best of Brooklyn” launched with Nets Coach Jordi Fernández.
His favorite spots, in case you're wondering, include Randolph Beer in DUMBO, New York Liberty games at Barclays Center (duh), and HiFi Provisions in Sunset Park, a record store in Industry City.

Along with BSE Global's un-announced acquisition of Brooklyn Magazine, this signals a new focus on Brooklyn.

Nets experiences?

Sportico reported that "the Nets plan to make opportunities like shootaround access and lounge visits"  available via GetYourGuide. (Were they not available via the arena/team websites?)

“What we want to do is really create sports experiences that maybe are a little bit more than attending a game,” Carlson told Sportico.

BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets and global online travel experience platform GetYourGuide have formed a new partnership that will bring together the two brands at the start of the 2024-25 NBA regular season. In addition to both brands' vast international reach, they each specialize in creating extraordinary experiences and memories.

As part of GetYourGuide’s first-ever partnership with a U.S. sports team, the company will become the Nets’ Official Jersey Patch Partner, with its logo visible on the front left shoulder of all Nets jerseys. Additionally, the Nets will provide access to team-inspired experiences that will be available on the GetYourGuide platform, and GetYourGuide will also receive international marketing rights to promote its alliance both in the New York market and outside the U.S. through expansive marketing, advertising, and digital activations.

Based in one the largest tourism destinations in the world, the Brooklyn Nets have attracted an overtly global fan base and, similarly, Berlin-based GetYourGuide has a growing international presence, operating in more than 11,000 cities worldwide and looking to expand its operations in the U.S. market. Together, the brands will celebrate the power of sports and travel to create connections, with a shared goal of bringing the best experiences and hospitality to Brooklyn — and the best of Brooklyn to the world.

“The most important element in our search for a new jersey patch partner was a brand with shared values, and we have found that in GetYourGuide,” said Catherine Carlson, Executive Vice President of Global Partnerships at BSE Global, parent company of the Nets. “Through this partnership we will connect fans and travelers to unforgettable experiences that intersect basketball, fashion, food, music and the arts - The Brooklyn Way. There is tremendous synergy between our team and GetYourGuide, and we look forward to working together to elevate and create unique experiences for sports fans and travelers alike.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Brooklyn Nets, an organization that shares our enthusiasm for unforgettable experiences,” said Emil Martinsek, Chief Marketing Officer at GetYourGuide. “Together, we look forward to unlocking special moments that showcase Brooklyn to the world and igniting the passion of Nets fans for sports and culture — both at home and on the road.”

In addition to becoming the Nets’ Official Jersey Patch Partner, GetYourGuide will become the presenting sponsor of a new content series with the team titled “Best of Brooklyn” that highlights favorite Brooklyn spots of Nets and New York Liberty players and coaching staff. “Best of Brooklyn” launches today with Nets Head Coach Jordi Fernández highlighting his favorite areas throughout the borough, including Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 2, Liberty Games at Barclays Center, and more. The upcoming season will be the Badalona, Spain-native’s first in Brooklyn after holding a number of coaching roles on the global stage.

GetYourGuide will also become the presenting partner of the Nets home opener on October 27 at Barclays Center – the first game of the regular season in which the jersey patch will be seen in front of the Nets’ home crowd – and receive digital signage at all Nets home games at Barclays Center, as well as integration across the teams’ digital channels.
