From the latest Construction Update: nothing new, but Con Edison may be working on the southeast block

The latest Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Construction Update (bottom), covering the two weeks beginning today, was circulated Friday Sept. 17 at 1:37 pm (lead time) by Empire State Development (ESD) after preparation by Greenland Forest City Partners.

There were no changes from the previous update, just the possibility of work previously announced extending to this period.

The West Tower Crane Jump at the B12/B13 site (615 Dean St. and 595 Dean St.) was to come on Sept. 18--the day after the alert, though in the scope of the previous two-week Update--with work 7 am to 3 pm. If bad weather, though, it may be performed on a weeknight, from 6 pm to midnight.

Staging of trucks and equipment is supposed to occur on Pacific Street, behind the towers, with no impact to traffic on Dean Street.

Also on that block, Con Edison may be on site to install interconnection feeder cables between vaults. Parking on Dean Street in front of the East Vault may be reduced by approximately five to six parking spaces for a few days.

After-hours work continues

Regarding after-hours work at B4 (18 Sixth Ave.), the Construction Update accurately lists weekday work 5 am to 10 pm and Saturday work 9 am to 5 pm. It states that there can be Sunday work 9 am to 5 pm, but no permits are listed yet.

Regarding after-hours work at B15 (662 Pacific St.), the document accurately cites weekday work 6 am to 10 pm and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday work 9 am to 5 pm.

Regarding after-hours work at B12 & B13, the document accurately states weekday work hours are 6 am to 6 pm. It also says "Saturday work from 9 AM – 5 PM will continue during this reporting period," though no permit has been issued yet.

That said, the most recent after-hours permit for a Saturday, on Sept. 18, was from 7 am to 5 pm, allowing for hoist work.

Remember, such after-hours work allows the developers to meet their schedule. That takes priority over neighborhood impacts.
