I wanted to show some of the images produced for the proposed 840 Atlantic Avenue project at the southeast corner of Atlantic and Vanderbilt avenues, as I wrote about for Bklyner, because they perspectives show Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park buildings with varying levels of prominence.
All the images were produced by the applicant, from a PowerPoint presentation to Community Board 8, another presentation to the City Planning Commission, and an Environmental Assessment Statement to the Department of City Planning.
The image below argues that the under-construction 809 Atlantic Avenue, across the street, and the not-yet-built (and who knows when?) B10 tower within Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park would be far taller. (That said, 809 Atlantic would be less bulky.)
The below image gives a good sense of the space available to build over the MTA's Vanderbilt Yard, though it also puts the 809 Atlantic tower at the center of the rendering--though the building proposed is to the left.
The image below, looking south from the north side of Atlantic, shows the retail space for 809 Atlantic, and, at right, seems to push the 550 Vanderbilt building pretty close to Atlantic--but there's another building, B10, coming in front of it.
Similarly, the image blow shows 550 Vanderbilt pretty close to Atlantic Avenue.
The perspective on the image below also shows 550 Vanderbilt appearing pretty close to Atlantic Avenue, though there's a railyard between Pacific Street and Atlantic Avenue.
