From the latest (delayed) Construction Update: work continues at the railyard, endpoint for some work is now April, not March

Yes, the coronavirus has upended things.

A message sent by Empire State Development at 12:47 pm today stated, "Attached for your information is the April 8, 2020 Atlantic Yards Project construction activity update covering the weeks of April 6 and April 13, 2020."

That suggests the document is some two-and-half days late, but actually they skipped a week. The previous update was dated 3/16/20, so there should've been one on or around 3/30/20, which was just about the time that work at the B4 (18 Sixth) and B15 (37 Sixth, 662-664 Pacific) sites was shutting down.

The document, below, notes that there's no construction activity at the B4 and B15 sites, without any explanation of the decision to shut down work.

Railyard work continues

But there's still work--essential infrastructure construction--at the Vanderbilt Yard, including site demobilization, including material and equipment removal. Unlike in the previous update, there's no mention of a plan to finish "by the end of March--early April."

Newly mentioned is ballast remediation at Track 3 in Block 1121, pending LIRR staff availability. Trucks will deliver and place ballast along Storage Track 3.

Also continuing is weekend and night work continue, including electrical punch-list closeout, train toilet servicing maintenance and repairs, cart-path construction along Track 1, site demobilization, and track restoration work. All weekend and night work is "expected to be completed by the end of April," which is a shift from the previous "end of March" prediction.

Note: some work mentioned in the previous update is not mentioned in this new one, such as work by Con Edison to provide electric service to the B4 and B15 sites, as well as "possible fence repair" at the B12 and B13 sites.
