The Barclays Center ice blamed for injury to Captain Tavares

New York Islanders Captain John Tavares is injured and out for the rest of the regular season, and teammate Cal Clutterbuck blames the Barclays Center ice, as Newsday reported:
“You see a guy’s heel dig in like that, it doesn’t happen other places,” Clutterbuck said. “It’s something that doesn’t get addressed . . . It was a little worse [than it’s been]. It had been a little better the last few games, but not tonight.”
Then again, note this report saying that ice elsewhere in the league may be worse and, as Dan Saraceni of Lighthouse Hockey pointed out, Clutterbuck still renewed his Islanders contract. Saraceni also suggested the net was also to blame.

But the ice surely will linger as an issue during the inevitable renegotiation of the Barclays Center-Islanders deal.
