From the official Atlantic Yards web site, a page in need of significant correction, given the news of the Atlantic Yards stall.
This watchdog blog, by journalist Norman Oder, covers the project to build the Barclays Center arena and 15-16 towers at a crucial site in Brooklyn. Dubbed Atlantic Yards by developer Forest City Ratner in 2003, it was rebranded Pacific Park Brooklyn in 2014 after Shanghai-based Greenland USA took a majority share. Forest City left in 2018. Eight towers and the arena have been built. After a stall, Cirrus and LCOR in 2025 took over as master developers. A plan to complete the project is pending.
If you're looking for a site that needs freshening badly, why not try BUILD's website: http://www.buildbrooklyn.org?
ReplyDeleteThe "News" page hasn't had anything added since July of 2005.
The message board on the site (http://www.buildbrooklyn.org/forum/index.php) hasn't had a post since 2007, and those from 2007 are simply spam.
The "Facts and Myths" page (http://www.buildbrooklyn.org/index.php?sect_id=fact ) contains outright lies that were exposed long ago, but haven't apparently been updated since 2004.
It's worth a visit to those who enjoy poking around in cluttered attics.
BUILD is not dead, but you wouldn't know it by its website.
