Elite show-jumping competition coming to Barclays Center in 2013, with 200 horses stabled in tents "just outside" (where?)

From the Wall Street Journal's article The Horses Will Jump in Brooklyn, on how in 2013 the Barclays Center will host the Gucci Masters, a new elite show-jumping competition:
For the New York Masters, about 70 to 80 horses will be stabled inside the building, with more than 200 horses in tents just outside, and 1,500 tons of special silica sand will be shipped in from Europe.
As Eric McClure commented on No Land Grab: 200 horses in tents "outside?" In the "temporary surface riding stables," perhaps?

That's a riff on the notion of temporary surface parking, but "just outside" suggests space in the rather small footprints of the apartment towers to be built adjacent to the arena.

Or maybe they'll use the small lot just east of Sixth Avenue on Dean Street.

Or will they close down the plaza that's supposed to be a public amenity?

  1. Temporary stalls can be set up anywhere. The Washington Int'l is held in the Verizon Center, stalls and warmup rings are in a nearby parking garage.
