Barclays Center releases December 2022 event calendar: 8 ticketed events, mostly Nets games. No New Year's Eve show. 2021 + 2019 were busier.

The Barclays Center yesterday released its December 2022 calendar of events: eight ticketed events including six Brooklyn Nets games, one basketball tournament (the Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational, with four games), and one concert.

(Note that, while there are four games for that tournament, they're not selling the upper bowl.)

Nets games against top teams like the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, and Milwaukee Bucks likely will sell out, or come close, with standing-room tickets. For the Celtics game, the two cheapest tickets I could find on the arena's ticketing partner worked out to $105 each, with fees. For the Warriors, they'd be $185 each; for the Bucks, $112.

There are also two unspecified private events, on Dec. 6 and Dec. 14, each lasting a full business day.

No New Year's Eve show

Notably, though the arena has a concert, with the rapper Future, scheduled for Friday, December 30, billed as "The Ball Drops In Brooklyn," it's dark on New Year's Eve, while in 2019 and 2021 the arena featured The Strokes in a December 31 New Year's Eve Show. (In 2020, the arena was closed for the pandemic.)

The Strokes finished their most recent tour in September, and are headed to India for two days of Lollapalooza India in late January.

Madison Square Garden, by contrast, has a New Year's Eve show, the fifth of five concerts by Phish. The UBS Arena at Belmont Park is dark. The Prudential Center in Newark has a Seton Hall basketball game at 12 noon, but no evening show.

December 2021

At Barclays, there were 12 events in December 2021: eight Brooklyn Nets games, two concerts, one college basketball event (four games in a day), and one comedy show.

December 2019

Before the pandemic, there were 19 announced events in December 2019, with more concerts and college basketball, and fewer Nets games.
