Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park FAQ, timeline, and infographics (pinned post)

From the latest Construction Update: nothing new. Continued boilerplate about possible start of platform. What happened to bi-monthly meeting?

The latest Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Construction Update (bottom), covering the two weeks beginning Monday, Nov. 28 was circulated at 12:19 pm yesterday (late!) by Empire State Development (ESD) after preparation by Greenland Forest City Partners (GFCP), which is dominated by Greenland USA.

There's really no change compared with the previous update, just ongoing work previously announced. It's hard to tell whether there are actual changes, or just a failure to update the syntax.

For example, on the southeast block at 595 Dean, the East Hoist (B12) will be removed, and deliveries as well as garbage removal will be made utilizing the residential loading dock on Dean Street. Except that was previously said to start in the first week of the month.

Platform work may start

For more than five months, they've suggested that the preparatory stage of platform work--crucial to three of the six towers over the Vanderbilt Yard--will finally start, but it still requires, as stated, permits to constrain sidewalk access and traffic around the block bounded by Atlantic Avenue and Pacific Street and by Sixth and Carlton Avenues.

That's the first block of platform work. At the most recent Quality of Life meeting in September,  we were told by a Greenland USA rep--dubiously, in my view, since it hadn't disclosed before--that the main delay was caused by unfinished water main work on the south side of Atlantic. That work was finished more than two months ago, but we haven't learned any more.

Delayed transparency

Note that the bi-monthly Quality of Life meeting had, as of Sept. 20, been still scheduled for Nov. 15, but there was never any announcement about it being scheduled, or postponed.

Meanwhile, ESD still hasn't updated its Atlantic Yards page with notes from the previous two Quality of Life meetings, in July and September.

After-hours work continues; again incorrect

Regarding after-hours work at B12 & B13 (615 Dean St/595 Dean St.) on the southeast block, the document accurately says there's a variance for work to start at 6 am on weekdays.

It also says "Saturday work from 9 AM – 5 PM will continue." There's nothing listed yet for this weekend, but, as with the past months, the most recent variances (Nov. 19, Nov. 26) were for 9 am to 5:30 pm.

That continues a pattern. They--GFCP and site developer TF Cornerstone--just don't care about getting it right. Nor does the state authority ESD.
