Senate confirms Adams as President/CEO of ESDC; no questions about Atlantic Yards

In a press release yesterday, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that the State Senate unanimously confirmed Kenneth Adams as President and CEO of the Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) and Commissioner of the Department of Economic Development, as well as Darrel J. Aubertine as Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Markets.

Adams appeared at a hearing of the Senate Finance Committee and of the Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business , but Atlantic Yards didn't come up. (He was originally supposed to appear last month.)

The press release:
"Darrel and Ken are intrinsic to the reinvention and reopening of New York as a destination for good jobs and growth," Governor Cuomo said. "Darrel's expertise on agricultural matters and his tireless advocacy for farmers in the state legislature is unmatched. Ken knows what it takes to keep private sector jobs from leaving and bring new ones to the state. He will be essential to my administration's message that New York is open for business. I thank Senators Skelos, DeFrancisco, Alesi, Ranzenhofer and Ritchie for ushering these nominations to confirmation."

ESDC President & CEO and Commissioner of the Department of Economic Development Kenneth Adams said, "It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen to serve. I believe the most direct way to improve people's lives and build safe and prosperous communities is through economic development. I am excited to lead Empire State Development's efforts to strengthen our business climate and implement Governor Cuomo's job creation strategy."
