Barclays Center releases July 2023 event calendar: 14 ticketed events (Liberty & concerts), plus two Nike plaza activations (sneaker drops?)

The Barclays Center yesterday released its July 2023 event calendar, which includes 14 ticketed events: seven WNBA New York Liberty games, six concerts (including four nights of Drake), and one Big 3 three-on-three basketball game.  (Tickets for the latter start at $45, with fees.)

That's more than twice the number of ticketed events last year, so it represents a business rebound for the arena operating company, especially given that Drake will sell big.

Also, the Community Notice points to "Nike Running X Barclays Center Plaza Activation," from 7 to 11 am on Saturday July 22 and Saturday July 29. Those events, limited to the plaza, are, as far as I can tell, new sneaker drops.

July 2022

July 2022 was notably slower, with only six ticketed events, including four WNBA New York Liberty games, plus a comedy show  and a boxing card.

It's possible that the limited schedule, with no events until July 14, was meant to accommodate the arena operators' work revamping the plaza.

Then again, in July 2019, the last comparable month pre-pandemic, the arena had only four ticketed events, plus three in-house events--auditions for the Brooklynettes cheerleaders and the Team Hype Dance Team--and two outdoor public events.
