From the latest Construction Update: still failing to acknowledge after-hours weekday work starting at 5 am and lasting until 10 pm, plus 7 am Saturday starts
It's deja vu. The latest Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Construction Update (bottom), covering the two weeks beginning Monday, Dec. 28 (today), was circulated yesterday at 2:33 pm (lead time) by Empire State Development (ESD) after preparation by Greenland Forest City Partners.
As I wrote two weeks ago, the Construction Update continues to misleadingly under-describe the after-hours variances (AHVs) available at the site, including weekday work starting at 5 am and lasting until 10 pm.
Construction progress
After-hours work, officially stated
Regarding both B15 and B4, the Update states:
At the B12/B13 sites (615 Dean St. and 595 Dean St.), Saturday work "will continue," according to the new Update.
As I wrote two weeks ago, the Construction Update continues to misleadingly under-describe the after-hours variances (AHVs) available at the site, including weekday work starting at 5 am and lasting until 10 pm.
Construction progress
At B15 (662 Pacific St.), the exterior brick facade of the building has been completed and window installation has progressed through the 19th floor--previously the 18th--according to the Update.
At B4 (18 Sixth Ave.), the concrete superstructure program has been completed.
At B4 (18 Sixth Ave.), the concrete superstructure program has been completed.
- In addition, there is an After-Hours Variance in place for all work from 6 pm – 9 pm and for Deliveries, Garbage Removal, Hoist and Crane Operation from 6 am until 7 am.
- Saturday permits when received, are for all work starting at 9 am until 5 pm.
In reality, B4 has an AHV to start work on weekdays at 5 am, as shown in the screenshot at right, and one to work on weekdays until 10 pm,
B4 has an AHV for work this Sunday, unmentioned in the previous Update, and may seek one for the Sundays encompassed by the new Update.
Also, the builders of B4 sought a new AHV for Saturday work from 7 am to 9 am but have so far been denied. Still, that does not conform to the claim that "Saturday permits when received, are for all work starting at 9 am until 5 pm."
After-hours work at B15
Yes, B15 (AHV list) has an AHV to start work on weekdays at 6 am, but it also has one to work until 10 pm, which includes Saturday work 9 am to 5 pm.
And it has an AHV to work from 9 am to 5 pm both on this Sunday, which is part of the previous Construction Update, and the following one.
Saturday work at B12/B13
At the B12/B13 sites (615 Dean St. and 595 Dean St.), Saturday work "will continue," according to the new Update.
Unlike in the previous Update, when the hours were stated as 9 am to 3:30 pm, no time period is stated and no AHV has been issued yet.
However, that 9 am to 3:30 pm time slot was misstated: the AHV for this Saturday, encompassed on the previous Update, allows work from 7 am to 3:30 pm, as shown in the screenshot at right.
