There are a few new things compared to the previous update, notably work at the Vanderbilt Yard that could be noisy/disruptive:
- LIRR will be turning on yard lighting this weekend near the Atlantic Avenue LIRR Access Ramp and possible in the East Yard (Block 1121).
- Test pits to be scheduled and performed overnight on Atlantic and Vanderbilt avenues as part of East Portal construction process.
But there are also rescheduled activities, likely at least in part due to weather, including sidewalk repair along Dean Street near the B12 site, between Carlton and Vanderbilt avenues; overnight street paving work outside the B2 site (461 Dean), which could last four nights; and also sidewalk repairs (day, night, possibly weekends) along the Barclays Center Sidewalk at Dean, Atlantic, and Flatbush avenues.
Long Island Rail Road work, previously scheduled for the night of Thursday, March 29, has been rescheduled/extended to April 11: "LIRR vehicles and equipment may be staged in B12 site. Limiting idling and avoiding unnecessary vehicle movements will be monitored and enforced to minimize impact to the community."
The demolition that hasn't happened
As stated in the past 48 construction updates, demolition at Block 1120, the railyard block between Sixth and Carlton avenues, could commence upon receipt of Department of Buildings and Department of Transportation permits. A community notice will be distributed. Maybe it's not actually going to happen within this two-week reporting period.
