The New York Liberty play at the Barclays Center tomorrow, hoping to extend the WNBA Finals. Ticket prices start in $60s. Are they selling all the upper deck?
The WNBA's New York Liberty, down 2-0 (see NetsDaily) in a best-of-five series against the Las Vegas Aces, play their first home Finals game tomorrow at 3 pm. Available tickets as of yesterday started at $71.55 and as of this morning started at $64.40 for single seats. (Pairs are slightly cheaper.)
It's a lot for family entertainment, though a lot cheaper than the NBA. It's possible that the prices will continue to go down closer to the game start.
Ticket prices this morning |
Notably, only in the playoffs, as far as I can tell, did the Liberty sell seats in the upper deck of the Barclays Center and only in the Finals have they tried to sell all, or at least most, of the sections.

A second home game?
If the Liberty win and get a second home game, at 8 pm Wednesday Oct. 18, tickets start at $78.10. That price has been steady since yesterday.
The screenshot above shows available seats. Based on the patterning, I suspect that they're not selling certain sections, or parts of sections or, perhaps, making the seats available via staggered timing.
If they can't sell out the arena, why not put several thousand tickets on sale at $20 or $25 and make sure the building is full?
The playoffs so far
The Barclays Center seats 17,732 for basketball. For the playoffs, reported attendance suggests the arena has been more than half-full (though it's unlikely all seats were put on sale).
First round vs. Washington Mystics:
Sept. 15: 8,789
Sept. 19: 9,256
Semifinals vs. the Connecticut Sun:
Sept. 24: 9,442
Sept. 26: 10,009
The first two games of the Finals, held in Las Vegas, have both so far drawn more than 10,000 fans:
Oct. 8: 10,300
Oct. 11: 10,232
Note that reported attendance generally means tickets distributed, not necessarily gate count, or tickets purchased.
