Updated: Tuesday, Sept. 20 is Quality of Life (virtual) meeting. Will any of the big questions about the project (affordable housing timetable, platform start) be addressed?

The next bi-monthly Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Project Quality of Life Meeting will be held virtually on Tuesday, Sept, 20, on Zoom.

Project-related questions and suggested agenda items can be sent to atlanticyards@esd.ny.gov, which is the address for Empire State Development, the state authority that oversees/shepherds the project--and shows a distinct unwillingness to press master developer Greenland Forest City Partners (GFCP) on some big questions.

Those big questions include:

• what is the plan, if any, to build 876 (or 877) more income-targeted apartments to meet the requirement of 2,250 by May 2025?
• if there is no plan, will the developer ask to renegotiate that requirement? what does ESD, controlled by the governor, say?
• why hasn't the platform over the first block (of two) over the Vanderbilt Yard, crucial to three future towers, started, though GFCP for three months has indicated its imminent?
• if the issue is permitting with the MTA, what specifically is the issue?
• does GFCP have the money to start the platform? 
• is GFCP waiting until financing issues, such as the replacement for the 421-a tax break is resolved?

And a small but persistent question, as I wrote last week: why haven't the official notes from the previous Quality of Life meeting been posted, given the goal to deliver them in two or three weeks? (Keep watch here.)
