No agenda for today's Atlantic Yards CDC meeting; I suggest timetable, affordable housing, dust, and "poor-er" floors

Ok, before today's 3 pm meeting of the Atlantic Yards Community Development Corporation (RSVP by 9:30 or watch webcast here), let's note: there's no agenda, just a meeting notice.

Then again, the agenda is typically vague, with updates from the AY CDC President and representatives of developer Greenland Forest City Partners.

The AY CDC is set up to advise Empire State Development, the state authority overseeing/shepherding Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park. It hasn't had a big impact (and it's controlled by gubernatorial appointees), but some board members have pushed to ventilate issues.

Here are some issues I think should come up:
  • what's best-case and worst-case scenario for the project timetable, given the unspecified delays
  • could the affordable housing still be completed by 2025, while the market-rate housing takes five or more years longer? does that mean 100% affordable buildings?
  • how does the tentative deal on 421-a change that equation?
  • what do the state and developer say about the (toxic?) dust that's drifted more than once into a residential street?
  • what does developer say about document saying 15 poorest households will be on the first three residential floors of 535 Carlton, aka "poor-er floors"? and if that's not accurate, what are the changes and why haven't they been memorialized in a document?
