Adams pledges $5B for affordable housing, details to come; advocates note he promised more

From a Mayoral press release 4/26/22, Mayor Adams Outlines Bold Vision for New York City's Recovery in First State of the City Address:

The FY23 executive budget proposes $5 billion in capital funding to promote the creation and preservation of affordable housing. This includes investing in the New York City Housing Authority Permanent Affordability Commitment Together program, as well as funding major in-unit repairs at Gowanus Houses and Wyckoff Gardens that Mayor Adams advocated for as Brooklyn borough president.

Adams' speech added a bit more detail:

This money will help make critical repairs at NYCHA, subsidize those who need help staying in their existing homes, and build more deeply affordable housing for the entire city.

In the coming weeks, we will be releasing a detailed blueprint for housing and homelessness, based on the input of our city’s top experts and everyday New Yorkers.

Surely those interested in building "more deeply affordable housing" would like to see that limited pool of subsidies steered their way.

The New York Housing Conference, which focuses on the NY affordable housing community, tweeted:

He agreed to $4B per year on the campaign trail total ($40 billion over 10 years) - the amount recommended by the @U4Housing coalition with more than 90 organizations supporting. This increase is insufficient.
