From the latest Construction Update: little new, but crane jump on southeast block planned for week of Oct. 11

The latest Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Construction Update (bottom), covering the two weeks beginning Monday, Oct. 4, was circulated yesterday at 12:06 pm (lead time) by Empire State Development (ESD) after preparation by Greenland Forest City Partners.

There were few changes from the previous update, mostly regarding the southeast block of the project and the B12/B13 site (615 Dean St. and 595 Dean St.).

After a previously scheduled West Tower Crane Jump, the East Tower Crane Jump may occur during the week of October 11 (most likely October 12 or October 13). Staging of trucks and equipment will occur on Pacific St. with no impact to traffic on Dean St.  (The amount of noise and other disruption is unstated.)

In case of bad weather, the Crane Jump may be performed during the weekend of October 16. Working hours would be from 6 pm to midnight for weekday work, or 7 am to 3 pm on the weekend.

Also on that block, Con Edison--as previously predicted--may be on site to install interconnection feeder cables between vaults. Parking on Dean Street in front of the East Vault may be reduced by approximately five to six parking spaces for a few days.

After-hours work continues

Regarding after-hours work at B4 (18 Sixth Ave.), the Construction Update accurately lists weekday work 5 am to 10 pm and Saturday work 9 am to 5 pm. It states that there can be Sunday work 9 am to 5 pm, but no permits are listed yet.

Regarding after-hours work at B15 (662 Pacific St.), the document accurately cites weekday work 6 am to 10 pm and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday work 9 am to 5 pm.

Regarding after-hours work at B12 & B13, the document accurately states weekday work hours are 6 am to 6 pm. It also says "Saturday work from 9 AM – 5 PM will continue during this reporting period," though no permit for next Saturday has been issued yet.

Today's permit, however, is from 9 am to 5:30 pm, while last Saturday's was 9 am to 3:30 pm. The previous Construction Update stated that Saturday work would be 9 am to 5 pm.

Remember, such after-hours work allows the developers to meet their schedule. That takes priority over neighborhood impacts.
