At the last minute, the Barclays Center yesterday shared with neighbors an updated March 2022 event calendar, announcing the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) Girls AA Championship game today at 5 pm and the Boys AA Championship game at 7 pm. Tickets are $15.
The girls' game features the No. 2 Susan Wagner Lady Falcons vs. the No. 1 South Shore Campus Lady Vikings. The boys' gme features the No. 3 Eagle Academy Brooklyn Eagles vs. the No. 1 South Shore Campus Vikings.
The event was apparently hastily scheduled. "It's time for the PSAL to wake up," Andy Furman wrote 3/4/22 for the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, noting that the PSAL had not announced the location for the basketball quarter-finals, the semi-finals, or the finals.
News12 reported the Barclays Center location three days ago, while the Barclays Center two days ago tweeted that the games were "just announced."
The PSAL finals were previously held at Barclays in 2014 and 2018, though otherwise it has had a very shaky commitment to school and community use.
