Somewhat belatedly, the Barclays Center yesterday circulated the updated event calendar for June 2015. (A previous version was released in April.)
Compared with the version released in April, the arena has:
Brooklyn Day
A message from arena Community Affairs Manager Terence Kelly yesterday stated, "We just wrapped our Nets basketball clinic at Brooklyn Day in Canarsie. Special thanks to our Borough President Eric Adams – incredible turnout, great energy and big success all around."
Indeed, Adams stated on Twitter, "We're excited about today. Our @Brooklynettes are here!"
My comment: "Heh, '*Our* @Brooklynettes' @BrooklynNets = #SportsEntertainmentCorporation."
Weigh-in this afternoon
Today at 1 pm there may be crowds on the arena plaza, as the official fighter weigh-in for tomorrow's boxing match is open to the public.
Compared with the version released in April, the arena has:
- added "VIP tours" for June 11 and June 16 (note that the arena actually lists tours on June 11, 12, 15, 16)
- estimated attendance for graduations (already completed) earlier this week
- estimated attendance for Saturday's boxing match (8,500)
- added a concert June 14
- estimated attendance for Barry Manilow (only 11,000; they're discounting, and have now moved more than 1,400 seats at half price)
- increased estimated attendance for the Brooklyn Tech graduation
- added the NBA draft June 25
The largest event is likely to be the Imagine Dragons concert on June 30, with 12,500 expected. Then again, the Barry Manilow and Bette Midler concerts, given older crowds, may have more limos/SUVs clogging nearby streets.
